Foundation for the WA Museum Grants Program

Introduction

The Foundation for the WA Museum aims to increase the cultural, scientific, educational and social impact of the Western Australian Museum and help secure its long-term financial sustainability. A key driver to achieve this is to deliver an ambitious, impactful and meaningful grant distribution program whereby the Foundation commit to a minimum amount grant distribution per year, calculated annually based on total investment portfolio net asset value as at 30 June. The minimum amount is exclusive of any restricted endowment or restricted project funding granted.

Purpose

The Foundation grants aims to:

  • Promote and sustain public interest in the Museum as a place of discovery, discussion, and debate about our collective past, present and future
  • Support the development, advancement of, exhibitions at and public engagement with the Museum
  • Advocate and promote the Museum to persons in government, business, and community organisations
  • Encourage and promote community involvement in the Museum and its programmes
  • Support the Museum in the promotion of movable cultural heritage

Grant Application Process

To apply for funding from the Foundation for the WA Museum, please follow the application process listed below.

Grant application projects must demonstrate how they meet the key strategies of both WA Museum and the Foundation. Grant funds may support several projects or a single exceptional project depending on the submissions received in any given year. The number of grants provided annually will remain flexible to deliver the best outcome for the Foundation and WA Museum.

  1. Before starting a grant application, please ensure you have read the FWAM Grant Guidelines and Standard Grant Conditions to ensure the project you are seeking funds for meets all the required eligibility criteria and terms and conditions.
  2. To commence a grant application, please visit the Foundation’s grant application portal by clicking the “Apply Now” link below.
  3. Prior to commencing the grant application, please download the relevant Endorsement Form, fill it out and obtain the required signatures from your Head of Section, Head of Department and CEO. The Endorsement Form needs to be uploaded into your grant application as part of your eligibility criteria.
  4. Upon submission of your application, you will receive an email from SmartyGrants confirming your submission.
