On 30 August, the three Shipwreck Hunters and WA Museum maritime archaeologists Deb and Ross will chat about their adventures, their love for the ocean and what it takes to be a shipwreck hunter.

On Sunday 27 July 2025, celebrated author Helen Garner and literary critic and contributing writer at The New Yorker, Merve Emre, reflected on Helen's fourth non-fiction book The Season.

This was a chance to hear Garner and Emre unpack the experiences explored in Helen's newest work, and discuss The Season's place in the arc of her career.

Secrets of Wadjemup Kepawirn - the Rottnest Deepwater Scuttle Ground

Hidden off the coast of Rottnest Island is a mysterious deepwater scuttle ground, filled with old unwanted vessels, barges, submarines, aircraft and military equipment.

On 20 May, guests were able to find out how deep-ocean diving and 3D modelling help visualise the lost wrecks on Fremantle’s doorstep, and hear about the latest fascinating findings from the site.

Shaping Tomorrow: Future-proofing WA for the Next Generation

On 28 April 2025, Sophie Howe, the first Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, Professor Peter Klinken AC, Chief Scientist of Western Australia and Kate Kirwin, 2024 WA Young Australian of the Year explored the concept of a Future Generations Act for Western Australia, moderated by Dominique Mecoy OAM, Leadership WA Chief Executive Officer. 

Presented by the Western Australian Museum, Foundation for the WA Museum and Forrest Research Foundation.

On 28 August 2024, the Foundation for the WA Museum presented Katherine Bennell-Pegg as the 2024 Ngalang Koort ("Our heart") Conversations speaker. In conversation with Sinead Mangan, Katherine explored why space matters to Australia and why Australia needs to play an active role in space exploration.

Ngalang Koort Conversations - A.C. Grayling

On 15 November 2023, the first Ngalang Koort Conversations speaker, A. C. Grayling, explored the topic Will AI be humankind’s ‘last invention’? in conversation with Robyn Owens, a mathematician and pioneering computational vision scientist.

The conversation, followed by a Q&A session, was held at Hackett Hall, WA Museum Boola Bardip.
