FAMELAB 2020 HAS A WINNER!

We are thrilled to announce that in 2020 for the first time ever, we secured Community Broadcasting Foundation funding to support all competing 2020 FameLab Australia semi-finalists with ongoing media training and mentoring over the course of the year. The FameLab media training and mentoring programme will be delivered by four partner community broadcasters between June 2020 and February 2021.
One of the highlights of the Festival is the FameLab International Finals presented in partnership with the British Council. Each year, the competition brings the brightest young science minds from across the globe to culturally share their experiences of science and compete for the title of the world’s best science communicator. The Cheltenham Science Festival June in the UK has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are planning to postpone the FameLab International Finals to October during Cheltenham Literature Festival (2-11 October). This provides a great opportunity to feature the finals as part of the world’s oldest literature festival, run by the same team as Cheltenham Science Festival. It attracts high-profile speakers and thought-leaders from the worlds of politics, science, sport and entertainment as well as literary greats and spoken-word performers. Speakers at the Festival over the years have included Stephen Hawking, David Attenborough, Hillary Clinton and Kofi Annan.
