ABOUT MUSEUM IN A CONTAINER
Santos has partnered with the Foundation for the WA Museum to embrace the importance of public education and engagement while the New Museum for WA is under construction in the Perth Cultural Centre. As the Principal Partner of the Museum in a Container project, Santos has supported the transformation of a shipping container into a transportable, secure, multi-use facility allowing the WA Museum to engage with local communities at various locations, including festivals, fairs and other community events. The content delivered is developed to match the theme of the specific festival or event, with a strong focus on conservation and the environment. After making its first appearance at Mandurah’s Crab Festival on the weekend of 17-18 March 2018, the ‘Museum in a Container’ has been involved in a number of exciting activations, with the support of Santos.
The Museum in a Container has created a strong presence at major public outdoor spaces such as Elizabeth Quay, the Perth Cultural Centre, the Perth Royal Show, the Perth Zoo, the Mandurah Crab Festival and CineFestOZ in Bunbury to name a few. Visitation figures since its inception have exceeded 69,000 to-date, connecting the community with science, culture, the environment, sustainability and the WA Museum.
