As 2020 draws to a close, and we all breathe a collective sigh of relief, it gives me great pleasure to thank you for your continued support and to wish you all, wherever you are and whomever you are with, a safe and happy Christmas.
It has been a year like no other: a year of disruption, a year of anxiety for many, a year of change and for some a year of opportunity. The Western Australian Museum Boola Bardip is now well and truly open and by all accounts, a resounding success. Feedback has been extremely positive and I know that Alec Coles and his team are delighted with the end result.
I am also truly delighted that the Foundation Team was able to present a magnificent Night at the Museum on Thursday 19 November: more than 700 guests enjoyed exceptional Western Australian wines, beers, gin, food, entertainment and networking. COVID-19 forced us to split our guests into groups, each touring through the Museum and seeing the same things, but at different times. It was fun to watch the expressions on our guests faces when they walked out of one Museum Gallery to a party in full swing with a rock band and gin cocktails in the next Gallery! The same happened over and over on exiting Museum Galleries with opera singers, electric violins, showgirls, bagpipes and many other exciting entertainers accompanied by delicious food and cocktails.
Whilst COVID-19 has restrained our fundraising activities for much of this year, we have had success with Naming Rights Partnerships and I am proud to announce that Wesfarmers, Rio Tinto, Woodside, Tianqi Lithium and the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation will be recognised with Naming Rights in the galleries, but also in perpetuity alongside Minderoo Foundation as Founding Partners of Boola Bardip. We are very privileged to have such esteemed Western Australian organisations in the Foundation cohort and are looking forward to working with these partners in the coming years.
Early in the New Year we will be looking to introduce some exciting changes with our Artefact Circle donors and will take pleasure in inviting you all to continue to be involved as well as welcoming new donors to be part of this fantastic group of people. We will also announce our 2021 Foundation Events Calendar so you can mark dates in your diaries – it will be lovely to have the opportunity to regroup and to catch-up again.
2020 will long be remembered as a year of extreme challenge but let’s all work towards a very positive 2021 with a year of opportunity, growth and personal happiness. It has been tough for so many, but as resilience comes to the fore, I am sure it will be a 2021 that will bring a smile to our faces and a song to our hearts, so now it just remains for me to again wish you a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Healthy New Year from the Foundation Team and myself.
My warm regards,
