COVID-19 has necessitated that we become more adept at considering varied and various new ways of fundraising, communicating to our loyal donors and supporters, and raising our profile and that of the Western Australian Museum. To that end, I am proud to introduce a brand new initiative that the Foundation team has put together – The Channel 7 We Love Museums Lottery!
Launching on Monday 24 August, the Lottery will give one lucky winner the chance to experience a uniquely Western Australian trip of a lifetime and with a combined value of $40,000. The major prize winner and a friend will discover the beauty of WA’s North West.
Included in the prize are return flights Perth to Broome, airport transfers in Broome, 5 nights accommodation at Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa with breakfast daily – and this is just the start!
You will move from Cable Beach Club to “MV True North”, a luxury expedition yacht and enjoy 5 adventure-filled days indulging in your very own coral atoll escapade in waters around the pristine Rowley Shoals – this experience starts from and returns to Broome and as if that wasn’t enough, then to really add to this pure indulgent and luxurious prize, you will take home a Kailis Ascensus Aurora Green Necklace, set in 18ct white gold with a 13mm Kailis Pearl complemented by engraved Guilloché dome.
An Early Bird Prize will give one lucky winner the chance to enjoy a private tour of the New Museum, along with two nights accommodation including breakfast, at the Alex Hotel located in the Cultural Centre. There is also a Multi-Chance option which means you will go into a draw to win up to $5,000 spending money. There will only be 40,000 tickets available online and tickets are only $15 each. On Monday you’ll receive your invitation to purchase tickets for the Lottery.
The major prize will be drawn on Friday 20 November unless tickets are sold out earlier and I sincerely hope that you will support the Foundation in our new venture. All proceeds allow us to bring world-class exhibitions and programs to WA, drive ground-breaking research, and contribute to innovation, creativity and education through the Discovery Endowment Fund.
You’ll be seeing the Lottery all over Perth through the next few weeks thanks to the team at Channel 7 and the talented Amelia Broun.
In my next update, I’ll give you a detailed overview of the FameLab Academy, a sister competition to Cheltenham Festival’s FameLab, which is revolutionising STEM communication in our schools.
We are continuing to support the WA Museum in areas of fundraising, sponsorship, partnership, research and educational program collaboration and with the confirmed opening date of the New Museum for Saturday 21 November 2020. We are so excited to continue to have an impact on artefact procurement, the international exhibition program and varying ways of supporting innovative research and development grants.
Again, in my next update I’ll reveal more information about plans for our gala celebration, but in the meantime, please put the date of THURSDAY 19 NOVEMBER 2020 in your diaries – this will be a party not to be missed! Night at the New Museum will be a fitting way to celebrate our wonderful New Museum!
Warm regards,
Jenny
